The town of Puerto Natales, is located in the southern zone of Chile, located along the Canal Señoret. The city was settled by European immigrants: The largest groups being of German descent. The Natales commune has 19,116 inhabitants, as of 2002 census. Its main economic activities involve sheep hearding, fishing, and now tourism due to the close proximity to Torres del Paine National Park.
