Informationen über San Rafael lagoon
Laguna San Rafael National Park is a Chilean national park, located in the Aysén region.
This National Park is characterized by being the largest in the Aysén region, with 1,742,000 ha of extension, of which about 400,000 ha correspond to the ancient ice of the Northern Ice Fields. Also inside the park is Mount San Valentín, with a height of approx. 4058 masl. The great attraction of the park is the San Rafael lagoon and the snowdrift of the same name that empties into said lagoon.
In the lagoon there are tours of the ice in small boats, from where it is possible to observe the fall of large masses of ice from the snowdrift towards the lagoon.
The climate of the area is characterized by being very humid, with abundant rainfall throughout the year, being one of the rainiest areas in the country with approx. 5000 mm of annual rain.
